All Are Welcome at the 2019 PURE Insurance Championship

Activities, Recognition for Military and First Responders, and Great Views Guaranteed

MONTEREY, Calif. (September 5, 2019) – The PGA TOUR Champions’ stars, along with The First Tee’s best and brightest, will descend upon the Monterey Peninsula to compete in the PURE Insurance Championship, September 24-29, but most of the fun will be outside the ropes.

“In addition to the extremely  competitive professional field and a stellar group of junior golfers and amateurs, the extra touches and activities created for our military, first responders, and general public make this event appealing and accessible to a broad cross-section of interests,” said Steve John, tournament director and CEO for Monterey Peninsula Foundation.

Starting on Friday, September 27, the USAA Military Appreciation Pavilion will be in full swing near the 17th green of Pebble Beach Golf Links from 10:00 am until the end of play through the weekend.  The Pavilion will serve complimentary snacks and refreshments and boasts incredible views of golf and picturesque Stillwater Cove.

With proper identification, all active duty, military reserve, national guard, military retirees, veterans and USAA card holders will receive 50% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages.

All ticket holders enjoy access to the Bubble Bar, an open-air deck offering incredible views of golf and the stunning Pebble Beach coastline. Champagne, wine, beer, and specialty snacks are available for purchase from Friday through Sunday.

The First Responders Deck presented by Caliburn International and SERVPRO on the 17th tee will also be open during play Friday through Sunday. First responders showing their identification receive complimentary lunch including a choice of hot dog or sandwich, chips and a beverage from the nearby concession area.

The Family Fun Zone on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links will feature complimentary lawn games, face painting and crafts.  This area is free for the entire family and open Friday through Sunday from 10:00 am.

General admission to the event is free, courtesy of MasterCard.  Spectators don’t need tickets to attend practice rounds Tuesday through Thursday (September 24-26), but fans must register online either in advance or onsite at http://www.pureinsurancechampionship.com/tickets/ to attend tournament play, Friday through Sunday (September 27-29, 2019).  Children 15 and under do not need a ticket to enter.

Shared hospitality opportunities are available and allow fans to view the tournament from a well-appointed deck perched above one of the most spectacular finishing holes in golf—the 18th at Pebble Beach. The Palmer’s 18th Green Hospitality ticket includes a full bar, catered lunch, and afternoon snacks. A three-day hospitality ticket also includes access to Friday night’s Jake Owen Barefoot Beach Party Concert in Pebble Beach.

The PURE Insurance Championship pairs 78 PGA TOUR Champions players with 78 boys and girls, ages 14 to 18, from The First Tee chapters around the country. The junior golfers are selected by a national panel of judges, which evaluates participants’ playing ability and comprehension of life skills and core values learned through their involvement with The First Tee.

The First Tee is a nonprofit youth development organization with golf programs centered on building character through Nine Core Values™: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment.

Since 2004, the tournament has been one of the most exciting stops on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule, producing champions such as World Golf Hall of Fame member Hale Irwin (2005), Jeff Sluman (2008, 2009, 2011), Kirk Triplett (2012, 2013), and John Cook (2014).
